I've often thought about writing a note like this over the years. I just want to let you know what a normal post-divorce life [my ex wife] and I have managed to achieve.
Of course that's mostly due to me, partly due to [her]. But I'm firmly convinced that we would have never reached this place without the foundation you helped forge.
[My daughter] is almost 14 now, and we have a great relationship. But if there were just a few different twists and turns over 2005 we might have no relationship at all.

Going through a divorce was the most painful experience of my life, probably because it wasn't what I wanted. All the things that were important to me were up in the air. I didn't know what would happen to my kids--that was the worst of it. But there was more. I worked all my life to buy a nice house, put away some savings and a college fund, establish good credit. I was beside myself with anxiety.
